fearlessly surrender to your birthing power
"It's really hard to summarize my enthusiam for Lindsey and her doula support for the delivery of our baby. I really cant imagine how we would have made it through 33.5 hours of labor without her emotional and physical support. Lindsey gracefully walks the tightrope between warm-hearted friend and consummate professional. I instantly felt at ease with her, as did my husband. She allayed our fears with her calm and loving demeanor. We knew we had a knowledgable and thoughtful advocate of our birth plan with us every step of the way. She was amazing! Even the nurses commented on what a great team the three of us (me, hubbie and Lindsey) made. We are so grateful Lindsey was part of our first birth and we just hope she's available again in a few years! We can't reccommend her enthusiastically enough. Lindsey is a treasure!"
"In short...Lindsey is an EXCEPTIONAL doula and we HIGHLY
recommend her! In long...We chose Lindsey to be our doula for our first child's
birth. My husband was not convinced a doula was necessary; neither of us are
"magical hippy dippy" types so we were looking for a doula who is of
course warm, supportive, and encouraging, but also pragmatic, organized and
efficient. Lindsey EXCEEDED our expectations!
What sets her apart from other doulas (we interviewed many) is
her strong intuition, and her great demeanor with clients and medical
caregivers. She is warm, supportive and encouraging but also very knowledgeable
and informed about birth and the way a mama and her partner are feeling, and
she intuitively knows what each needs in every moment of labor. She knew
exactly what I needed and when, and guided my husband and me smoothly and
without applying her own ideals. She and my husband made an excellent team -
she was supportive and knew when to give us our private time. She helped us
stick to our birthplan and carried me through to have the epidural-free labor I
was after despite my many, many requests for an epi in the heat of the moment.
Her intution knew my cries were hollow so she encouraged us one contraction at
a time. I was in excellent hands. I experienced back labor and Lindsey
had seemingly everlasting physical strength to massage endlessly during labor -
she had the perfect touch!
As for our prenatal meetings, she always came well prepared and
was efficient. And postnatal, she was always available for questions and was
very generous with her time. She even surprised us and wrote up a very sweet
birth story for us which we will cherish for life! And she thoughtfully brought
over homemade lactation biscuits to help with milk production. As a lactation counselor,
Lindsey took the extra time to ensure my son and I were well on our way to
successful breastfeeding. We are soooo thankful for Lindsey!"
"I feel really blessed to have found Lindsey... My husband and I decided to have a "let's wing it" approach to our first pregnancy, a little over 2 years ago, with that being said I wanted a different experience with our second. I contacted 3 doulas, all phone interviews, and Lindsey was my first. I knew at that moment that she would be awesome, but to be fair and objective I made the other calls. She was so candid, straight forward and kind. it seemed like I had known her for years and we were catching up over a phone conversation. I had concerns over gaining too much weight, placenta encapsulation, birthing positions, etc...she explained in detail, sent me numerous emails with facts, web links and reading materials. She also let me borrow her great birthing books from her own collection. My husband was apprehensive with hiring a doula. We have no family in CA, they are all in New England, so I was thinking this would be good for me but also for him. He and Lindsey made a great team, he is grateful for her assistance and knowledge. Lindsey and I went on a 3 mile hike at Tilden the day before I went into labor (I was 10 days overdue) in addition she helped with guiding me through holistic methods of inducing. The night I went into labor there was no time for Lindsey to meet us at our home. She was waiting for me at the entrance of Alta Bates ready to go. She had my birth plan printed, and was proactive with the medical associates that it was followed. This birth was the best experience. I was able to deliver my beautiful 10 pound baby naturally only b/c of Lindsey and my husband. Lindsey is a great person, someone you would want as a friend if you met her, and she was a great addition to our experience. I can't recommend her enough, you won't be disappointed. THANK YOU LINDSEY for guiding me through the most intense challenge!!!"
"I never thought I would be one of them, one of those women who say "the birth of my child was the best day of my life", but here I am, thinking and saying it. Now I understand and envy people that are midwifes, doulas and other birth partners, you have the best jobs on the planet. I could thank you everyday but it will never reflect the true extend of my gratitude. You helped me through the most beautiful & challenging experience of my life, you helped me bringing into this world my most pride "possession". I will never do anything bigger than that, other than maybe the whole next challenge of raising her.Words aren't enough to express how I feel, so just know that I am extremely thankful for your presence and your help, I can't repay fairly this debt, but you will always have a special place in my heart and in our family."
"Dear Lindsey,I have wanted to write and send you this letter – for months now, it’s just that I struggled with how to even begin this letter to you. How can one truly articulate such heartfelt gratitude and admiration to her doula? You were there with me, every step of the way, through every emotion I encountered as my life transformed when beautiful Naia came from my womb and to my arms. You made me feel like a birth warrior! The moment I met you I knew I was understood. You knew I was scared, primarily of the birth. And yet having you there, I can honestly say I was able to enjoy (even through the tough parts!) and be present for every minute of it. You knew before I even knew, that I would be strong enough, and knew that I was capable throughout all my doubts (and screams!). It was admirable to see you adjust fluidly to my changing labor needs, and each and every time, it was just exactly what I needed. You always knew what to say and when to say it. You had the right books, guidance, and advice when I needed. You created an atmosphere of peace and comfort, not just with all the fantastic props and aids you had, but just by being there and knowing exactly what to do. You held my hand, held my space, and whispered so many encouraging words and saw me through the most vulnerable time of my life.Thank you for making me feel confident, for going through all my emotions with me. I felt you present, even as I closed my eyes, went deep within myself through all the guided breaths you helped me take, and I knew that with you I was safe. You were my security blanket through it all. (You seriously have rockstar endurance!)My birth experience became a wonderful meditative experience, knowing you were there I was able to let go no matter what. You also supported Bernat and helped him be present as well. You took such incredible pictures of our experience, and these, Bernat and I will forever cherish. You captured moments that were beautiful and reflected the immediate bonding we had with Naia, a mind-blowing connection that just fills our hearts with profound love.I remember all the details of my daughter’s birth. I don’t have any of the blacked out moments. I was present for it all. And YOU made that possible for me.Lindsey, for that I thank you. You will always have a special place in my heart. When I think of my pregnancy and birth experience, you will be at the forefront of those amazing memories. Thank you for being at my side as I traveled through the amazing rite of passage that women experience. Love and Hugs, Robyn"
"Throughout my pregnancy Lindsey was there at all of the right times with all of the right advice (even when I was crazy lol). During my labor and delivery, Lindsey was an amazing support to me (and my husband!). She was very knowledgeable. You can tell she really loves what she does and is committed to helping new moms to be birth the way they want too. She came to our house and helped me with positions, made sure I was hydrated and kept me calm. Lindsey was able to restore my husband’s confidence quickly and with ease, which ultimately led to a more supportive and positive birthing experience.
We chose to give birth in a midwife/hospital setting and she worked seamlessly with staff in addition to being prepared with suggestions, comforts and tools to help me achieve the natural birth I desired. After delivery again her keen sense of “being there at the right time” was spot on as she visited at just the right time and give breastfeeding support and advice just when I needed it. Lindsey is gifted with a great sense of intuition, which makes her wonderful to be around and a great doula.”
"Lindsey was fantastic! We went to a doula meet and greet and my wife and I both immediately were drawn to her because she seemed straightforward, practical, and understanding. We ended up hiring her and couldn't have been happier. Her initial questionaire was a fantastic way for her to get to know us and our birth wishes. We loved the 2 pre-pregnancy visits, which were informational, practical, at exactly the right level of detail, and beneficial for both mom and dad. She never pushed her viewpoints on us, and solely supported us in our birth desires -- which was to have a non-to-minimally medicated birth. Labor started late in the evening, and she was constantly accessible via cell and text, answering all of our questions in a very responsive fashion, despite it being 3 am!! Lindsey was also familiar with our hospital (Alta Bates) and its staff, which was a tremendous help. We highly recommend her and will hire her again in a heartbeat."
"Hiring Lindsey as our doula was one of the best things we did. Her help and support during pregnancy, birth and postpartum was incredible, and she went way beyond what we expected. During pregnancy she was in permanent contact, giving us information about anything we asked. We had two prenatal visits where she made sure that we got to know each other, lent us books, helped us prepare a birth plan and we went over all details of what we wanted the labor to be. She was going to be out of town around my week 38 (we knew before hiring her but still did hire her because of the strong rapport we felt after meeting her), so she made sure that her back-up doula was at all times informed about my progress in pregnancy and about my birth plan, and she even brought her to our second prenatal visit so that we got to know each other. When I started early labor we were in contact by phone, and when we felt that we needed her with us she came to our house. At the hospital she was very supportive and caring staying with us throughout the night and the following morning until after the birth of our daughter. During the whole time she did not stop helping us with breathing techniques, changing positions, massages, applying counter pressure to relieve back pain and was a very reassuring presence for my husband. She created a peaceful and relaxing ambiance and work very well with the hospital staff. She kept track of everything during labor, and a few days after birth she sent us a detailed birth story. Her postpartum support was above and beyond expected. She came not only once but several times to our house to check on us and the baby. She brought delicious homemade lactation cookies, loaned us several receiving blankets and recommended several lactation consultants. She kept in close contact postpartum and was available to answer whatever queries and questions we had about newborn care. Sufficed to say we would definitely hire Lindsey again for our second child!"
